Today on the HELL DIVER’S CAVE OF TRUTHS! Why Legend of the Mantle is NOTHING LIKE THE CAT PETTERS SERIES.

Aside from being OBVIOUSLY DRASTIC DIFFERENT GAMES, many people seem to be under the impression that both games have the same story… ohhh boy.

Let’s begin with the facts. Both games are heavily influenced by the titan of all videogames: the Dragon Blazers series. But where Mantle takes inspiration from its core themes and pays homage to DB, Cat Petters has been proved, PROVED!!!!! To be a cheap knockoff of DB with a HORRID pink coat and sparkles thrown over it.

IT DISRESPECTS EVERYTHING THAT MADE THE STORY FORMULA WORK!!! Instead of teaming up to save the world from the shadows, Catt Petters is about saving the world from sadness with the power of love and friendship… ugh. Moreover, the turn based combat is clunky and gets boring FAST. The attacks don’t actually damage any enemies and for some reason many of the in world objects are sweets and desserts and it gets NAUSIATING TO SEE FOR 2 HOURS STRAIGHT! (oh yeah, the gameplay? Blink and you will miss it because every game is SHORT! LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR BABIES TO PLAY IT!).

Whereas Mantle is a gorgeous exploration of destiny and prophecies that haunt the character’s moral compass and self discovery journeys. A song of life and death and adventure and even whimsy. The game design is dark and mysterious (even for its 8bit graphics. Use your imagination folks) and the gameplay can extend from 5 to 7 hours if you are eager enough to explore its beautiful level design and character dialogue to its fullest.

BUT EVEN with these comparisons, people interchange both games as equally good because “they are Dragon Blazers ripoffs anyways!” Well my friend, such might be the case BUT! Many-a-stories can be retold and built upon. Believe me, Dragon Blazers isn’t the first piece of media EVER to feature a world ending adventure in the hands of a trio of heroes. And it will also NOT be the last! Legend of the Mantle is a great example of this, and heck, I am even writing with some friends my own take on a prophecy based adventure table top roleplaying game as we speak! But I WILL say this for life.

Of aaaaaaall the ways the Cat Petters developers could have taken their *unique* take on Dragon Blazers’ plot…

They decided to make it factually and effectively LAME!

That is all. Hell Diver is OUTTTTTT. AND I DON’T WANT TO SEE THIS GAME BEING BROUGHT UP IN MY BLOG EVER AGAIN. I AM BANNING ANYONE WHO DOES. So have a GOOD DAY if you also despise this game.
