Legend of the Mantle Spelunk PART 12: A new secret?

Welcome back to the HELL DIVER'S VIDEOGAME SPELUNKINGS! This time with a BIG secret from THE best fantasy turn-based RPG and my favorite game of all time, the Legend of the Mantle. This week I will give you all a rundown of the latests mystery I found while playing it for the 10th time (COMPLETE SOLO easter egg hunt edition).

Before I start tho, and in case anyone reading this HASN'T READ my pinned Mantle vs Petterz rant, remember this:

LEGEND OF THE MANTLE IS NOT A COPY OF CAT PETTERZ. IT IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME AND IF I CATCH ANY OF YOU COMMENTING OTHERWISE, I WILL CHOP YOU TO PIECES YOU BUNCH OF [SILLYWAGS]!!!!!!1

Smh, Cat Petterz fans PISS ME OFF...

Getting back on topic, let me show you a picture first:

Notice something off? Like something is missing?

If you're a true Mantle player you would know. But for those who don't, this part is from the maze in the Frost Castle before facing Joutanor. This maze is practically IMPOSSIBLE to pass WITHOUT Freya in your party.

At this point in the game, Freya has spent most of the gameplay in the party and the ONLY time she leaves is AFTER finishing the Frost Castle chapter. However, if you're a MADLAD (like me) you would have tried to traverse the game solo without companions. It's actually possible LITERALLY UP UNTIL THE FROST CASTLE MAZE… or so I thought. Now most people think the game is rigged to place you back at the beginning of the maze if you DON'T have Freya in your party to guide you through the right path.

But I found out... you can actually keep going until you find something that wasn't there before...

I did this a couple of times randomly pushing through various directions. I will do a couple of runs later to see if I can trace a pattern for you guys, but doing it randomly seems to work. The only problem with doing it randomly is that it takes WAAAAAAAY TOO LONG to get to the door. (I'll trace a path I promise).

BUT BACK TO THE DOOR! True players of Mantle will ALSO recognize that this door is NOWHERE ELSE in the game... and this is also a problem because every door needs a key to be opened.

I tried searching through the game files to see if I could crack a glimpse inside the room without looking for the key (by the time I found it, I spent no joke, MORE THAN 4 HOURS walking endlessly and randomly through the maze. Why did I go for so long? Something gave me the feeling that doing so was leading me somewhere. That and the fact that I couldn’t go back to the outside of the maze; the game BASICALLY traps you in it) but it seems to only be a dark room? Like any other treasure room, but completely empty and dark.

So it was either a glitch caused by the game crashing because I played for so long and without the character to help me through the maze

OR

The game devs are hiding the REAL content of the room and the only way to UNLOCK IT is by getting the key… gotta admit, that's pretty smart on their part.

Legend of the Mantle is already popular because of how many secret routes and dialogue options you can get by doing some game-breaking stuff to it… so maybe I'm the first one finding THIS particular door... It was already too late (early?) for me to keep digging and I had to go to school soon anyway, so I couldn't keep searching. But maybe for next week I will be able to find the key for YOU, nosy readers! (Let's see if I can keep the spelunking this weekend after band practice lol)

UNTIL THEN! The Hell-Diver is OUT! Of sight…
